Boro notched up another victory and more vital minutes as our pre-season trip to Germany began with victory over SV Sandhausen.
After recently returning from Austria and having played in Spennymoor on Tuesday night, this was the first match action for Tony Pulis' side since jetting out to the continent once more on Friday.
And the Boro boss utilised the full squad at his disposal in Germany, with each player featuring at some stage in the match, including the likes of Harry Chapman and 16-year-old scholar Nathan Wood.
2. Bundesliga side Sandhausen provided stiff opposition, starting strongly in a match which had a competitive edge throughout.
But Boro grew into it, and looks the more threatening side as the first half wore on.
Adama Traore was a constant menace down Boro's right, and inadvertently came close to opening the scoring when his deflected cross had to be pushed over the crossbar.
Patrick Bamford was also causing problems in his central striking role, but the referee waved play on when he went down in a tangle of legs in the area.
Stewart Downing flashed a volley over and Jonny Howson had a shot charged down before Bamford again worked space with his back to goal and was toppled in the box - this time the man in charge pointing to the spot.
For the second match running, Patrick Bamford was clinical from 12 yards, sending the Sandhausen goalkeeper the wrong way to open the scoring.
With wholesale changes in the second half, Boro could have been forgiven for lacking some cohesion as the match wore on.
Nevertheless, Boro continued to hassle and harry, and carve out opportunities.
Britt Assombalonga beat two defenders before clipping a shot into the side netting before youngster Nathan Wood saw an impressive header clawed away.
Sandhausen finished strongly in front of a smattering of their fans in Mindelheim, and Boro's replacement man in nets Dimi Konstantopoulos had to be alert to preserve our advantage.
