Paddy McNair missed out on Northern Ireland's final World Cup qualifying group against Italy on Monday evening.

The 26-year-old was omitted from Ian Baraclough's squad as a precaution after picking up a slight knock during their 1-0 win against Lithuania on Friday. Northern Ireland have already missed out on qualification.

McNair has returned to Rockliffe where he will be assessed and he will be joined by Andraz Sporar, who was forced out of Slovenia's weekend clash with Cyprus during the warm-up after first being named in the starting XI.

James Lea Siliki is Boro's other international and he faces a winner-takes-all Afcon Group D World Cup qualifier against Ivory Coast on Tuesday (7pm).
