The 10-team tournament, which will take place on Sunday May 5 (10am to 4pm), will be a day of inclusion, diversity, education and football to provide an insight into the life of a young footballer.

The festival was born out of the recent ‘No Barriers’ project our U12s took up to promote equality and diversity within the club, which paid tribute to former footballer and British Army Officer Walter Tull.

The project was aimed at encouraging youngsters from diverse backgrounds to learn more about the club and the Academy, with the U12s also working closely with the BAME community in Middlesbrough and Darlington to try and break down barriers.

Staff from the club will also be providing an insight in their roles across different departments, including the Academy, recruitment, sport science, medicine, sport psychology, education and coaching.

A coaching session will also be delivered, while members of the North Riding FA will be on hand to offer guidance for parents and/or guardians on coaching pathways, with opportunities to learn how to become a qualified coach.
