The club has announced its retained list for the 2021/22 season with a number of last season’s first team squad to become free agents from July 1.
Strike duo Britt Assombalonga and Ashley Fletcher head up the list of departures – as had already been confirmed by manager Neil Warnock before the end of last season – along with Marvin Johnson, Jordan Archer, and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who have not been offered new contracts.
Assombalonga, Fletcher, and Johnson were all signed by Garry Monk during the summer of 2017 and their departures leave Jonny Howson as the only player recruited by the former boss during that summer still at the club.
Howson signed a new contract last season, along with Paddy McNair, Anfernee Dijksteel, and Marc Bola, who all pledged their longer-term futures to the club.
At Under-23 level, Tyrone O’Neill, who made his first team debut at Leeds in 2019, Cole Kiernan and Tyler Williams have not been offered new contracts.
Scholars George Waites and Andrew Wilson have also been released.
QPR goalkeeper Joe Lumley will officially sign for the club in July when his Loftus Road contract expires, while recent weeks have seen a flurry of Academy activity with Jack Robinson, Cain Sykes and Hayden Hackney signing new contracts, Josh Wells and Jeremy Sivi agreeing terms after impressing on trial, and Isiah Cornet and Max Metcalfe penning their first professional contracts.
The club has also exercised options to extend the contracts of Brad James, Daniel Dodds and Alberto Balde.
We would like to thank all departing players for their efforts during their time with the club, and wish them the best of luck in their future careers.
