MFC and MFC Foundation officials are working closely with the Fans for Diversity campaign with the aim being to form a Boro LGBT Supporters Group.
There are numerous official LGBT supporters groups for Premier League and EFL clubs, with varying mission statements, goals and aims, but MFC haven’t been officially represented as yet.
Most groups are formed to provide a social group for LGBT fans and their friends and demonstrate a positive force showing football and football stadiums as safe, welcoming and inclusive environments for anyone regardless of gender, age, race or sexual orientation.
We’re inviting interested fans to an event at the Riverside on Tuesday April 30 (5.30pm) to discuss the formation of the group.
The event will be informal, and in a relaxed environment, for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender supporters or anyone who wants to support the group, to meet, discuss individual motivations for forming the group and decide its aims for the future.
Members of the newly formed group will also be invited to attend Fans Forums throughout the season.
MFC are committed through its Riversidebyside programme in ensuring equality, diversity and inclusivity and challenging discrimination in all of its forms. We hope the first official MFC LGBT Supporters Group will be able to support us in achieving our aims and objectives.
Supporters interested in being part of our LGBT Supporters Group and want to attend this event should register their interest by emailing Yvonne Ferguson – Head of Supporter Services at email@example.com.
