The duo initially linked back up with parent club Manchester City on the resumption of training after lockdown – Premier League clubs were given the green-light to return ahead of the Championship – but the duo are now back on Teesside.

Roberts had been sidelined with injury since January but, along with the likes of Dani Ayala and George Friend, the enforced break due to the suspension of all football has given him the opportunity to return to fitness.

Nmecha has clocked up 10 appearances since his January arrival.

Boro’s only absentee from this week’s return to training is defender Anfernee Djiksteel, who has made a solitary appearance in the U23s since suffering an injury against Barnsley back in November.
