On this day in 2000, Boro's campaign ended with a 2-0 win over Everton as Juninho brought the curtain down on his second spell at the club in signature style.
The diminutive Brazilian spent the season on loan at Boro from Atletico Madrid, the Spanish side for whom he had departed Teesside in a club record sale three years prior.
He had already scored four goals in a decent season for Boro - the heights weren't quite that of a top half finish achieved the previous year, but the club were well clear of any relegation danger before heading to Everton on the final day.
Brian Deane opened the scoring on Merseyside, bringing his tally to nine goals with a looping header that beat Toffees keeper Paul Gerrard.
And the win was sealed for Bryan Robson's Boro when Juninho weaved a path through the Everton defence, played a few smart passes and slotted home in trademark fashion.
