On this day two decades ago, Alen Boksic was at his maverick best as Boro put four past Derby County.

The Teessiders had struggled in the first half of the 2000/01 season, but by January were starting to find their feet under the stewardship of Terry Venables.

The former England boss' influence alongside Bryan Robson in the dugout was clearly having the desired effect, Boro making it seven unbeaten in style with what proved the biggest win of the campaign.

Boskic - who always seemed to net against the Rams - was at the heart of it, slotting home a penalty to start the scoring.

Ugo Ehiogu delivered a diving header for the second, before Boksic broke away to beat Mart Poom and register a third.

The rout was complete when Hamilton Ricard tucked in a second penalty of the evening late on.
