On this day in 2004, Boro moved fifth in the Premier League with a three-goal win over Aston Villa at the Riverside.
Juan Pablo Angel headed against the crossbar and former Villan Gareth Southgate cleared one off the line before Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink put Boro ahead.
Southgate could then have scored at the other end but it was Jospeh Desire Job who would double the lead.
The visiting Villans continued to threaten, and hit the woodwork again through Barry before Dutch defender Michael Reiziger sealed victory with his first goal in Boro colours.
