15 years ago, Boro lifted our first-ever piece of silverware as we clinched the Carling Cup by defeating Bolton Wanderers.
Boro got the dream start at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium with two goals in the opening seven minutes of action.
Then Boro boss Steve McClaren wasn’t even in position in the dugout when Joseph-Desire Job turned in Boudewijin Zenden’s cross with only two minutes on the clock.
It was 2-0 five minutes later when Job was brought down in the box and Zenden converted the spot kick from 12 yards out.
Bolton pulled one back through Kevin Davies at the 20-minute mark, with Boro keeper Mark Schwarzer spilling the striker’s effort.
But the Big Aussie made several saves as Boro held on in a goalless second half to lift the first trophy in our history.
