Boro's players were reporting back to Rockliffe Park on Monday morning for the first day of pre-season training.
In line with the EFL's return to training protocols, the Boro squad signed in at the training ground in small groups after the summer break.
Following government guidance, the first port of call for each player is COVID-19 testing. That will be followed by more physical examinations and drills throughout the day.
Hayden Coulson, Jonny Howson, Marcus Tavernier, and Britt Assombalonga were among the first group to get stuck in on their return to training.
The players were assessed by the medical and fitness staff before moving to the indoor pitch to endure the infamous bleep tests.
The groups had staggered arrival times with more beginning their own work as the morning commenced. Summer signing Grant Hall was among the second group.
