All five goals came in the second half, with Britt Assombalonga bagging two of them, and George Friend, Ashley Fletcher and another peach of a finish from Lewis Wing completing the scoring.

Wing’s rise from non-league to the Championship is a story familiar to many – with the 23-year-old living his dream he had eyes on six years ago.

Wing’s spectacular finish, something Boro fans have witnessed previously with his long range strike against Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup, left supporters purring over his goal and performance.

Here’s a reminder of THAT goal…

It was a momentous day for more members of the Boro squad, with Dimi setting a new record as the club’s oldest player and club captain Grant Leadbitter clocking up his 500th career appearance.

The result left the Boro dressing room in a positive mood, with new loan signing Rajiv van La Parra pulling on the club’s colours for the first time.

A good game to be introduced to Boro for this young fan!

And a nice result to crown your birthday for this youngster!
