Steve Agnew has made his first appointment since taking control of first team affairs, with Joe Jordan joining the club.

Jordan, who will assist Agnew with first team duties, brings a wealth of experience, having managed Hearts and Stoke City and enjoyed two spells in charge of Bristol City. He has also worked alongside Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers, as well as with Lawrie McMenemy with the Northern Ireland national team in a coaching career that spans just shy of thirty years.

As a player, no-nonsense striker Jordan made over 450 league appearances, scoring more than 100 goals, and featured for Leeds United, Manchester United, and AC Milan.

The former Scotland international joined Agnew on the training ground on Friday morning As Boro prepare for Manchester United on Sunday.

As part of a backroom re-shuffle, goalkeeping coach Marcos Abad, and analysts Juanjo Vila and Guillermo Salinas have left the club.
