The Boro boss was first asked about captain Britt Assombalonga - who was withdrawn at half-time in Saturday's draw against Reading - and his likelihood of being involved against Bristol City tomorrow (kick-offf 7.45pm).

"I won’t know until after training today," Warnock said.

"Britt’s having treatment this morning as he’s a bit sore.

"He’s been taking a battering from the centre halves and we can’t afford to lose him or Chuba [Akpom]. With only having two strikers we’ll have to look at different options at times like we did in the second half at the weekend.

"I’m just getting with what I’ve got. If we only have one striker we will have to look at what we have and adapt accordingly.

"We’ll have a session in the morning and see what's what."

Meanwhile, Warnock says the returning Patrick Roberts will feature between tomorrow's trip to Ashton Gate and the visit to his old club Cardiff City four days later.

"He’ll be involved, but whether he starts or not I don’t know. He’ll get some game time this week there’s no doubt about that.

"Patrick's has looked really sharp in training. With all the technology we have, we can see in a second how much he needs to do to catch up compared to the other lads."

Warnock was asked about managing his squad over a relentless schedule, particularly the likes of George Saville and Paddy McNair who were away with Northern Ireland last week.

"They'll always say they are feeling good and up for it, which is a good thing," Warnock said.

"I’ll have a look at them because they’ve had a lot of travelling."

The manager also had a positive progress report on Grant Hall.

"Grant is doing everything you can do at this stage, swimming and the like.

"Hopefully we’re talking two weeks before he can join in, certainly by the next international break.

"We won’t use him until we’re 100% sure."

Neil Warnock had confirmed after the match on Saturday that Ashley Fletcher is set for an extended period on the sidelines with a hamstring problem, with his recovery set to rule him out until the new year.
