Neil Warnock says he will check on the progress of players who tested positive for COVID-19 last week as Boro prepare to face Birmingham City tomorrow (12.30pm).

The manager confirmed that his first team squad have not returned any further positive tests, and those who did could yet feature at the Riverside - but admits weather conditions have further hampered his side's preparations.

"The players are doing all right, they're all back in training today," he said.

"We'll look at what the situation is - but we haven't been able to do much with the weather in any case.

"There was frozen snow on top of my frozen windscreen this morning - minus five!

"We'll have a look today at how they are - they're a bright group and overall they've come back really well."

Midfielder Jonny Howson, meanwhile, could be involved for the first time since limping off against Preston in early December.

"Jonny could be available," Warnock said.

"He’s training again today, he could be on the bench but we will will see."

Elsewhere, Marcus Browne will see a consultant today regarding a knee injury incurred at Brentford last Saturday.

"It doesn’t look very good for Marcus," Warnock conceded.

"But we’re not going to jump to conclusions. He sees the specialist today so again we will wait and see."
