Ryan Shotton is set for a spell on the sidelines after sustaining a knee injury, Tony Pulis has revealed.
A mainstay on the right hand side of Boro's defence this season, Shotton missed out on Tuesday's match against Rotherham United having picked up a knock at Sheffield Wednesday the previous Friday.
And the Boro boss says Boro will have to be patient with the 29-year-old's recovery, ruling him out of playing against former club Derby County this weekend, although he did offer an outside chance the defender could feature against another previous employer next month.
"Ryan won't be fit for a couple of weeks," Pulis said in his pre-match media conference.
"He knocked his knee and we have to see how that settles down before we can assess it.
"He'll definitely miss out on Saturday - he might have an outside chance against Stoke City but the main thing is that we get it right."
