Boro's Under-23s are in action at Heritage Park on Friday, with Newcastle United the opposition as the youngsters seek a return to winning ways.

Graeme Lee's side lost to Norwich City at the Bishop Auckland ground in their last outing a week ago, while the Magpies were beaten by Reading.

Two points and two places separate the teams in the PL2 table in Boro's favour - with north east neighbours Sunderland wedged between.

The reverse fixture - the opening game of the season - ended in a 2-2 draw, while this one is a rearranged date having been snowed off in January.

Kick-off is 2pm, and the match is behind-closed-doors.
