Aitor Karanka has praised Emilio Nsue after the versatile midfielder scored his second goal of the season against Burnley on Tuesday.
Nsue signed for Boro last summer, but only opened his scoring account for the club three weeks ago away to Huddersfield.
The former Mallorca man has primarily played at right-back this season for Boro, but was pushed up to midfield on Tuesday where he impressed greatly.
"Emilio is the kind of player that you know can play in a lot of positions and he's confident now so it's good for us and the team," said Karanka.
"He's improved a lot, he's a good lad, he's funny and he's enjoying it a lot. I'm really pleased for him but also for his teammates.
"He couldn't have scored if his teammates hadn't of played in the way they did."
Nsue's goal at Huddersfield came after a superb link up with Adam Forshaw - similar to that of Tuesday night.
Forshaw made just his first league start of the season and set up Nsue once again to score the winning goal of the game.
The Boro Head Coach heaped admiration on the midfielder for his performance and admitted he's now faced with another selection headache for this Saturday's trip to Brighton.
"Adam is another player who I can trust 100%," said the Head Coach. "I know him and I wanted him last season in January.
"Sometimes because we've been playing well or he's been injured he hasn't had his chance but on Tuesday - especially in the second half - he played really well.
"So now I have another big problem to pick the team (for Brighton) but I'm expecting a good game."
