Just three days on from their first Checkatrade Trophy game of the season, Paul Stephenson's side are out to maintain the perfect start to their league campaign.

So far it's five wins from five games with the squad sitting five points clear at the top.

Defeat at Accrington Stanley's Wham Stadium on Tuesday night was, therefore, their first reverse of the season, with Lead Coach Stephenson commenting: "I know we were up against a senior side and we had some of our players away at Villa on First Team duties, but that gave opportunities to others and I still don't accept defeat lightly.

"We performed pretty well on Tuesday, I was really pleased with a lot of what we did and there was much to admire. But there were certain aspects which weren't acceptable and the players were told that. They were reminded of the standards we have set this season and the need to reach those in every game.

"We're trying to create a winning mentality and a winning atmosphere. That's very important.

"I expect tonight to be another tough game, but we have done really well so far, not just with the results, and I will be looking for that standard to be maintained."

Stoke have won two and lost three of their five games and currently sit ninth.

Kick-off is 7pm, admission is free to Boro Season Card holders and £3 to everyone else. Car parking is available.
