The visiting Hammers share the leadership of the division with Man United, although the Reds hold a superior goal difference. Boro are three points behind in fourth place after Monday’s 3-2 win at Sunderland.

“It was good to get another win at Sunderland and maintain what has been a decent start overall for us,” said Lee.

“In fairness, the 3-2 result probably flattered Sunderland because we had enough chances to have been out of sight before they pulled a second goal back.

“It’s a good result for us going into the West Ham game. Winning breeds confidence, and the lads know the standards that are expected of them.”

With the first team travelling to Cardiff City today, Lee may have to make changes from the side which won at Eppleton earlier this week.
