Postponement of last night's game away to Wolves, coupled with a blank afternoon for York City whose U23 game at their training ground was postponed, led to some frantic last-minute work to get tonight's North Riding Senior Cup semi-final organised.
Bootham Crescent is the venue and a place in the final of the competition is the prize.
"A lot of people have pulled together to make this game happen," says U23s Lead Coach Paul Stephenson.
"We're delighted we can play it now and we're looking forward to what will probably be the toughest test yet for a lot of the players in our young side."
Both Boro, 54-times winners of the competition, and York City entered at the quarter-final stage, Boro winning 7-0 away to Redcar Athletic on a very wet and windy night, while City edged past Boro Rangers 2-1 at the Crescent.
The game is the first of two in four days for Stephenson's side who entertain Brighton at Heritage Park in a PL2 Division 2 game on Friday night.
Both tonight and Friday's games kick-off at 7pm.
Admission tonight is £3 adults and £1 concessions.
