Viktor Fischer insists it's important that Boro remain focused on their own game heading into this weekend's clash with Swansea at the Riverside.

The Swans have registered just one point in seven away games but Fischer says his concern is on getting back to winning ways following consecutive defeats to Southampton and Liverpool.

"Swansea haven't done so well lately but it's not about how good or bad they are, we have to go out and just play our game," said Fischer.

"We have to know that we have to win that game. It's about giving it all we can to take the three points. That's what it's all about on Saturday.

"We know that we can and have to win that game and that's what we're focusing on - trying to get a good reaction from two defeats in a row.

"We're trying to get our shape back after Wednesday and be ready for the game on Saturday."

Wednesday's defeat to Liverpool saw Boro fall to seventeenth in the Premier League table, three points and one place above Bob Bradley's Swansea.

But with five teams separated by just two points, Fischer is confident that the Teessiders possess the quality to climb back up the league.

"I am sure we can get away from being around the bottom," he said. "We are good enough for that and I don't doubt that for a second, we just have to show it.

"We had a couple of good weeks when we didn't lose a game and now we have lost two. That's why we have to just stay calm and believe in ourselves because we can play really well.

"We have the quality to win games, we just have to keep on going because I think we can become a really great team."
