A Stephen Walker hat-trick proved decisive as Boro's Under-18s beat Everton to secure a place in the semi-finals of the Premier League Cup.
Our youngsters had pulled off a surprise win against Everton last weekend, coming from behind before netting a last-minute winner to deny the Toffees top spot in the league.
But there were no such late dramatics needed this time around as our U18s swept title chasing Everton away in some style at Rockliffe.
Walker fired Boro ahead on 28 minutes and Alberto Balde made it two just nine minutes later. The goal flurry continued before the break and Walker bagged his second to ensure a 3-0 lead at the interval.
Walker, who has tasted life with the first team this season, completed his hat-trick with a penalty in the dying moments. Everton's consolation also came from the penalty spot with the final kick of the game.
Boro join both Manchester clubs and Derby County in the semi-finals.
Our U16s have a chance to join the U18s in their semi-finals when they travel to Brighton next weekend for their Premier League Cup quarter-final tie.
