Boro’s unbeaten run on home soil came to an end before the international break with a 2-0 defeat against Assombalonga’s former side Nottingham Forest.

The domestic action resumes tomorrow night for Boro with a visit to Hillsborough and Assombalonga, our leading goal scorer this season, says Tony Pulis’ side are aiming for a strong response against the Owls.

“We don’t want to lose back-to-back games so we have to respond in a good manner and hopefully get a win on Friday,” he said.

“Your home record, especially to get promoted, it has to be really good.

“Everyone was gutted that we lost the game (at home to Nottingham Forest), but we just have to bounce back and take one on the road.”

An upturn in results has seen Wednesday rise into the Play-Off places, and Assombalonga is wary of the threat they pose, especially on home turf.

“It’s been good for them – they’ve scored a lot of good goals from outside the box and that’s something we’ve looked at.

“At the end of the day, we’ve got to focus on ourselves and hope they’re focussing on us and we can go into the game ready.

“Last time we played there (Hillsborough) it was really loud, but as I’ve said we’ve just got to focus on ourselves and shove everything else out of the way and go for the win.”
