The Teessiders will arrive at the Cardiff City Stadium with a matching unbeaten run, with both teams without defeat in their previous four league fixtures.

The Bluebirds are back in the Championship after one season in the Premier League, and Woodgate expects a stern test against a side rich in experience on the pitch and in the dugout.

“A really difficult game,” said the Boro head coach of what he expects from Cardiff.

“They’ve come down from the Premier League, they’ve got a top squad, they’ve got a manager (Neil Warnock) who knows the league inside out, eight promotions, managed 17 clubs, been a manager for 40 years, which is a fantastic achievement, and they’re experienced.

“It will be a really difficult game for us, but we’ll be going there trying to win the game.”
