Wednesday's win over Barnsley ended a run of 11 games without victory, but Woodgate says his squad have remained upbeat throughout.

"Full credit to the players, they have stayed confident," he said.

"That's a massive plus for me, to have a team in that dressing room that's right behind me and is doing everything they can to win games.

"It's one defeat now in six and we've played some tough teams."

Saturday will bring another test for Boro against a Leeds side who have lost just once at Elland Road this season.

"I spent a lot of years and have fond memories there," he said.

"Marcelo is an incredible manager, with great experience and it's credit to Leeds that they got him in.

"What he's done for Leeds from where they were when he took over is fantastic."
