Boro head coach Jonathan Woodgate gave his verdict on his side's 2-2 draw at home to Hull City.
Boro were in control as Marcus Tavernier and Ashley Fletcher gave the Teessiders a two-goal advantage.
Marvin Johnson was dismissed for a challenge on Eric Lichaj, and the Tigers made the numerical advantage count as Jarrod Bowen struck twice in the second half.
"The sending off, ill-discipline from Marvin, it's a stupid tackle and it costs you the game," said Woodgate.
"We were different class until the sending off, but they've got players with outstanding ability, Bowen, who's top drawer and can produce something out of nothing. It's very disappointing."
