Head coach Jonathan Woodgate gave his views on Boro's point on the road at Wigan Athletic.
A second half Lewis Wing double had put us in front after Sam Morsy gave the Latics the advantage in the first period.
But it ended honours even after Harold Moukoudi scored an own goal inside the final 15 minutes.
"It's two points dropped in the game," Woodgate said.
"We went to try and win the game, it was important that we didn't get beat - we've got to keep that distance between us and Wigan.
"They go down to ten men and we start winning the game 2-1, but it's a freak own goal by Harold (Moukoudi).
"I don't leave the blame at his door - I thought he was very good all night. We go again with another game against Luton on Saturday now."
