Paddy McNair swept in to give Boro the lead in a much improved second half showing at the Riverside.

But substitute Tom Bradshaw bundled in from a corner to pinch a point for Millwall.

"It's disappointing, certainly not to see it out in the second half," Howson said.

"On the whole, first half obviously was not good enough, we were sloppy and took too long to get going. We probably needed half-time to come.

"But we got in front through a great goal from Paddy.

"Every game this season there have been positives, it's just a case of knitting it together."
