Marc Bola said he was delighted to wrap up an early Christmas present with a new Boro contract - and revealed how happy he is coming in to training every day.

On Wedensday, the 23-year-old penned a new deal which keeps him at Boro until at least 2024.

Bola has been a revelation at left-back this season, and credits manager Neil Warnock with the transformation in his fortunes.

"We've been talking about it for quite some time so I'm very delighted to get it over the line," he said.

"He [Neil Warnock] has had loads of influence, I wouldn't just say it's me - the lads feel we've got that confidence back.

"I'm just glad that he's our manager. I want to play every game so I'll keep giving it 100%.

"I can't speak for the lads but I come in every day thinking 'today's gonna be a good day'.

"We're all competitive, we all want to win, but we've all got a smile on our face which is a good thing around the camp."
