Marcus Tavernier gave his reaction after Boro's 2-2 draw with Hull City at the Riverside.
The midfielder opened the scoring and his account for the season, and Ashley Fletcher added a stunning second at the Riverside.
But the game swung on Marvin Johnson's red card, with Jarrod Bowen tying things up with a second-half double salvo.
"It's really frustrating, we were two-nil up and we felt in control of the game," he said.
"We've gone down to ten men, so second half we knew they were going to come at us - unfortunately we and couldn't hold on to the win.
"I've managed to get on the scoresheet today but credit to the boys for getting the ball in the box and creating as many chances as we did.
"You saw in the first 25 minutes, when we've got 11 players and playing our style - we could have scored three or four but unfortunately it didn't go that way."
