The new man at the helm completed his first deal last week with the arrival of Grant Hall from Queens Park Rangers, and he is targeting more to follow.

“I’d like to have three or four in by the end of the month, but whether that’s possible we’ll have to see,” said the Boro boss. “If we can get another one over the line this week I’d be very pleased

“I know the players I want and the areas I want, and there’s a lot work going on. It’s going to be a busy few weeks.”

Despite his 40 years in the game, the current transfer window is something of a unique experience for the new Boro manager.

“The market is changing drastically,” he said. “You’ll find players who had a good value a few months ago could be worthless now. I think there could be a lot of player exchanges with clubs wanting to get players off their wage bills.

“Here, we will cut our cloth accordingly. I’m fine with that. We will try and get value in what we do here.”
