Pulis says there are similarities between his former club and current employers in reacting to relegation from the Premier League.

"They've done a little bit of what we did at the beginning of the previous season," he said.

"That is that they've spent a hell of a lot of money, but they've never seemed to get the balance right.

"But they will start tomorrow with a team full of Premier League players.

"The big thing for us is playing the way we have been playing and really be committed."

The Boro boss revealed that Dani Ayala and Dael Fry have joined George Friend in being ruled out of contention for the remainder of the season, but hopes that can galvanise the squad.

"It's eleven versus eleven irrespective of what injuries you pick up," you said.

"If your players are playing as a team and the supporters are with you, we can beat anyone."
