Our first goal in this week’s Six of the Best comes in the form of a neat Diego Fabbrini finish on our last visit to Hillsborough back in 2015. Fabbrini’s goal rounded off a smart counter-attack and restored our lead on the day after Marco Matias had cancelled out Adam Reach’s opener.

Goal number two was scored by Juninho who danced his way through the Owls defence in 1997 at the Riverside. Boro were 3-2 despite being 10 men down after Fabrizio Ravanelli’s red card and Juninho sealed it with this fine goal, smashing it past Kevin Pressman.

Paul Gascoigne’s perfect free kick in front of the north stand rounded off a good afternoon for Boro in October 1998. Mikkel Beck scored two first half goals and Hamilton Ricard had made it 3-0, before Gascoigne stepped up and dispatched the free kick for our fourth of the afternoon.

It’s from one free kick to another with goal number four. Boro took on Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup at the Riverside at the start of 2017 when we recorded a convincing 3-0 win. Grant Leadbitter’s is our pick of the bunch from this one, with the captain making a very difficult technique look easy to beat Joe Wildsmith in goal.

Best of the lot? There’s certainly an argument to be made. Justin Hoyte found himself with a sight of goal on a Friday night in 2012 and produced this beauty of a finish to put us 1-0 up inside 15 minutes. What a hit!

And the final goal in this list comes from Cristhian Stuani, who sent the Riverside into raptures when he scored inside 60 seconds on Sheffield Wednesday’s last league game against Boro. The home side kept the ball well from kick-off before Stewart Downing sent a low cross in towards Stuani who did the rest!
