The young forward, currently cutting his teeth on loan at MK Dons, said he jumped at the chance to put his league season on hold and play in this tournament once more.

And Walker says there wasn't much between Boro and Manchester City, who won the game by a single goal.

"The boys have showed outstanding commitment and togetherness to get to the final, and beat a fair few good teams at this level," he said.

"We've shown again tonight why we deserve to be in the final.

"We were just unlucky in the end that we didn't quite have enough.

"It's no secret that Manchester City are one of the best teams in the world, the way they play.

"It's a big pitch and City love spreading the ball about, but there weren't many chances and it was a tight game. They got the one goal and kept possession well.

"It's credit to the lad that we came and competed for 90 minutes, and gave it our all."
