Britt Assombalonga notched his 12th goal in all competitions for Boro this term to seal the three points.

Pulis says his side were always on the front foot against Tony Mowbray's side, but feels Boro also need to be more ruthless in front of goal.

“It’s a great result for us,” he said.

“After the Sheffield United game and the injuries that we’ve got and that we’ve picked up, the lads have come here and been really positive today, there was no back foot stuff and they shouldn’t.

“I’ve talked continuously about the three games we’ve just played – we played really well at West Brom, we played really well against Leeds and if Flinty (Aden Flint) and Dani (Ayala) stay on the pitch we could have won the Sheffield United game as well.

“We just need them to be more positive, they were more positive today. The disappointing thing again is when you get 27 shots on goal, to score just one is disappointing.

“We just need to be more clinical.”
