Boro manager Tony Pulis hailed his side’s first half performance, including a wonder strike from Lewis Wing, as we prevailed in the Carabao Cup against Crystal Palace.
Wing’s first-half stoppage time strike from 20 yards out helped us reach the quarter-finals of the competition against the Premier League side.
Pulis praised the quality from his side in the first 45 and heaped praise on midfielder Wing after his stunning goal proved to be the difference against the Boro boss’ former side.
“First half performance was excellent and again we got into a lot of great positions and had opportunities,” he said.
“It takes a wonder goal from Wingy (Lewis Wing) to give us that lead and as I’ve said I think we’ve played well this year in lots of games.
“It’s just that final third and having someone to put the ball in in the final third, and luckily Wingy’s come up with a special one tonight to win the game.
“He’s signed a new contract and I’m really pleased he’s with us. He’s got a long way to go and there’s things that he needs to improve on, but his enthusiasm to play and to want to play and to learn is first class. We’ve got to make sure we encourage that.”
