Tony Pulis spoke to the media this morning at Rockliffe to look ahead to Boro's Championship meeting with Blackburn Rovers at the Riverside tomorrow (3pm).
Former Boro captain and manager Tony Mowbray returns to Teesside on Saturday afternoon with his Rovers side for our second successive home game.
Blackburn and Tony Mowbray:
"I know Tony quite well and he's done a good job wherever he's gone. That includes here at Middlesbrough, I don't think he gets the credit he deserves. He took over in very difficult circumstances and a lot of mess to clear up. He had to pick up the pieces and put the club back on course. He's settled at Blackburn now and brought in some good players. He's a good football man and it will be nice to see him."
Reacting to Villa defeat:
"The players have been good. It was our first defeat in eight, and although we weren't as good as we have been, you have to give credit to Villa. You have to dust yourself down and look forward to the next game. The games come round so fast so you always have chance to respond."
The ebbs and flows of the Championship:
"We played Fulham around this time last year, they beat us and they shouldn't have beaten us. Then they went on an extraordinary run and won promotion. A lot of it is about confidence and making the players believe in themselves."
Player of the month nominee Darren Randolph:
"He's been exceptional. He made a couple of mistakes [against Villa], but that's maybe magnified because of the position he plays. But he's been brilliant for us this season."
