Tyrone O’Neill lifted the lid on the delight in the dressing room for Boro’s Under-21s after victory over League One Burton Albion in the Checkatrade Trophy.
The 19-year-old forward led the line admirably against an experienced Brewers backline.
And O’Neill was quick to credit the dedication throughout the pitch for Boro.
“I think the boys worked very hard tonight,” he said.
“Coming up against a First Team we know it’s going to be difficult.
“The last few games in this cup have been tough on us.
“Some of the lads have played in the last two years in this competition, so we’re buzzing - over the moon.
“To get the win tonight, the first for the club, it’s an unreal experience and one I’ve really enjoyed."
The Grangetown-born striker says that confidence is key for he and his teammates - and that will only grow with this result.
“We’ve been on a good run with wins against Newcastle and Norwich,” he explained.
“So we were confident coming into the game.
“But we always believe in ourselves and believe we can win.”
