George Friend, Ryan Shotton and Dejan Stojanovic featured as Boro’s Under-23s played a behind-closed-doors friendly with Celtic U23s on Tuesday afternoon.
Friend played the full match and Shotton an hour as the defensive duo continued their recovery from injury while Stojanovic pulled on a Boro shirt for the first time since signing from St Gallen in January, also playing 90 minutes in goal.
Jonathan Woodgate joined goalkeeping coach Danny Coyne in watching on during the first half before heading to Wigan for last night’s first team fixture.
Manchester City loanee Daniel Arzani opened the scoring for Celtic in blustery conditions at Rockliffe Park.
U23s captain Tyrone O’Neill levelled up from the penalty spot for a Boro side also featuring a number of trialists, the striker also missing with another spot kick in the second half.
